Messy Mealtimes

Mealtimes can be quite tedious for me. It's difficult to get R to finish the food. We have to distract her with various activities and "playthings". We have to distract her with advertisements on the TV, or her favourite songs on Itunes. Or, we have to get her to stop trying to get out of the chair by letting her play with different things. From spoons, to ice cube trays, to cups, to cheerios to tissue paper. Today's latest was 2 pears. She was amused for roughly 5 minutes with the pears.

Mealtimes are messy as well, especially when she tries to grab the spoon or cup of food. And also, when the spoonful of food is near her mouth, she will whack it with her hands, or she will just turn her head.... A feat for patience....

She has gotten smarter as well. Earlier on, I will tempt her to open her mouth with a bottle of water. And then, when her mouth is opened (for the bottle), I will then snoop in a spoon of food. She now realises what I do, and snaps shut her mouth IF I try to snoop in the spoon.....sighhhh.... definitely a feat for patience!
