Sending Rachel for trial school
Good reasons why we wanted to send Rachel to school early:
- She will not learn how to be independent if she is with my in laws all day long.
- She will be too pampered not only by us, but by my in laws as well…..
- She will not learn how to share without mixing with other kids her age
We do not expect Rachel to learn how to READ at 2 years old in school. We do not expect the teachers to even get them to sit down and look at books during schooltime. We are sending Rachel to a PLAYGROUP, and we do literally expect them to PLAY most of the time.
I sent Rachel for her trial class on the first day. MIL insisted on coming. It was not fun for me. MIL was quite critical about a lot of things….even the kids themselves…. I guess she wants “the best” for her granddaughter? When MIL saw the teacher scratching her neck…she was querying me about whether the teacher had an illness or disease……oh my God……talk about over-protectiveness over her precious!!!!!
It’s a simple 3 hours daily playgroup, and MIL kept on complaining thinks that we are paying too much for it.
On a more positive note, Rachel seems to enjoy school. She enjoys the arts and crafts in the school. *I am gonna try to look out for similar toys like that this weekend!!!!* And she enjoys the singing and also the forming of choo choo train, where the kids line up, holding each other’s shoulders. Rachel kept on relating the incident to me, where the “kor kor” placed his hands on her shoulders…..hahahahaha
Our only worry is the boys can be quite rough, and Rachel has been too protected so far. The school has quite a fair share of stairs and that worries us a bit.
Will see how her third day turns out. Hopefully before the end of the week, she can be in school without MIL around!!!!

hey mel....kinda early for baby nat:) u do sound more kiasu than me!!!! hahahaha...... when the time comes, let's meet up and i will trade stories on the school!
haha... yeah, you're right. it's kinda early. Not that I intend to send her so soon but I was wondering what criteria to look for. Don't even know what kindies are charging these days but I'm willing to bet it's quite a fortune!
Ya, it'll be nice to meet up again. Don't have to wait till Nat is ready for school. It'll be good to introduce our 2 girls to each other too!
I agree with the sharing part for going to school. Eva has improved a lot in sharing, but still say 'MINE' to much!
