weaning rachel off.....unsuccessfully

when rachel was born, i told myself (and hubby) that it will be a big accomplishment if i managed to breastfeed for 6 months. rachel is now 13 months, and I am still feeding her at night. To me, that's one of the biggest accomplishment in life for me. Then, I heard from my friend about another friend who just weaned off her son, only at the age of 5 YEARS!!!!! My jaw nearly dropped.... whoa.....Mother Of The DECADE award goes to her!

N'way, am thinking of weaning Rachel off completely. However, it's not an easy task, as my breasts seems to be the greatest comfort we can give her. And also, I am quite reluctant to wean her off because:
1. The bond with Rachel while breastfeeding is something that I am so unwilling to give up
2. My breasts seems to be the best PACIFIER when Rachel is upset, or in distress! Finding a good replacement seems impossible.

These days, Rachel knows how to lift up my shirt, in search of her milk source. In the middle of the night, she will climb over to me, and try to lift up my shirt.....These are sure symptoms that if I wait any longer, it will be really difficult for me to wean Rachel off completely!
