fussy eater

Sometimes, it is so difficult to feed Rachel, making me wish that there’s a door to her stomach like a washing machine that I can just open and fill her up with the necessary nutrients!!!!!!

Following the advice of some “experts”, we will ask what she wants to eat…. This is called empowering her with choice in her life!!!!..... and imagine my frustration when I cook her the requested “noodles”, and after taking just 2 tiny spoonfuls of it, she turns to me and ask for “rice”!!!!!

Her weight is a kg below the expected weight for her age….. but the paed said it was fine. Nevertheless, I am not going to stop worrying about how much she takes in, and whether her intake of nutrients is adequate.

This is the recommended portions for Rachel’s age that I looked at from www.parentcenter.com:

For an active 2- or 3-year-old, any one of the following meets his daily requirement for grains:
5 slices of bread
25 whole wheat crackers
2 1/2 cups of cooked rice or pasta
2 1/2 cups cooked oatmeal

me thinking this: "5 slices of bread?!?!?!?!? I don’t even take 5 slices!!!!!"

For an active 2- or 3-year-old, any one of the following meets his daily requirement for vegetables:
1 1/2 cups cooked broccoli spears
1 1/2 cups tomato sauce

me thinking : "Oh gosh….I am gonna freak out soon…….!!!!!"

For an active 2- or 3-year-old, any one of the following meets his daily requirement for fruit:
1 1/2 cups blueberries
1 1/2 cups orange juice
1 large banana

me thinking: "Is this the only nutrient that she is taking in enough as per recommended? help me......"

For an active 2- or 3-year-old, any one of the following meets his daily requirement for milk:
2 cups of milk
2 cups of yogurt
4 slices of unprocessed cheese
2 cups of pudding

me: "Pheeeeewwwww…….she does have 2 cups of milk….I am not a bad parent after all!!!!!"
