Sick....

It's a mother's nightmare.. when the whole family is sick.

Well, it all started when my dearest hubby went to the cinema to watch 2012 (at least the movie was good)....and came back with germs and all.... He got sick, and spread it to me and the kids.... and then he got well, and got sick again!!!!! (yes, hubby still goes to the cinema, although I can't go!!!! )

I think poor Kenneth is the one who took the biggest hit with this germ spread. At first, he had flu. I insisted on taking him to the doc this time, instead of just letting the virus run its course, like the last time. The doctor prescribed antihistamine, and no antibiotics. Then, a few days later, the dreaded fever starts.... panadol did not do its trick this time. I got worried about swine flu. So, off we went to the doc again.... the doctor was cool. He said if we wanted to check, he could write us a note and get Kenneth to be tested at the government hospitals for swine flu. However, he does not recommend tamiflu, even if it's tested positive. And he thinks Kenneth is ok. Not too serious. Just treat it as a normal viral flu. But this time round, Kenneth was put on antibiotics, as his throat is red... Well, I hope Kenneth will recover soon....

And to make things worse, I sprained my back, and have a dreadful cough. Without sufficient sleep, and with a sick child and a sick hubby, and still having to do all the housework and cooking.....aiyai ya yai yahhhhh..... how I wish I do have some house help now!!!!! It's really back breaking for me.

ohhhhh......also, you should see how pleasantly surprised hubby was when the doc did not charge us the 2nd time round for Kenneth!!!! Hubby went like "Free????? sure????" ..... well, little pleasures in life ......

Also, the weather has turned from really hot to suddenly, really cold. I have never in my life imagined that I could experience winter in Middle East....How ignorant I was last time.... and hubby just had a long 5-day weekend coz of the Haj holiday. He couldn't wait to go back to work today!!!!! Coz the kids were already giving him a headache.

Just a week ago, when I was disciplining Rachel, he softly stepped in and asked me to be more reasonable and less strict on his darling girl. After this 5 days with his darling girl, I think he knows why I scream and shout at the kids like how I do...... Give him another 2 days, and he will willingly go back to work FOR FREE!!!!! Hmmmmpppphhhh....who says a SAHM has the best of life, I need to slap that person left and right.......literally slap some sense into that someone..... I seriously think a housewife (or home maker if I put it nicely), especially one without any house help has the world's most difficult and under-appreciated job!!!!!

Thrush

It's confirmed. Lil Ken has thrush.. so, paed has given him an oral gel (daktarin) to treat it. His paed said it's not necessary for me to be treated... Crossing my fingers it won't spread, and will not affect his appetite. Let's hope it will be all gone soon!!!!

Thrush Scare

For the last 2 weeks, since we came back to my hometown, I have not been very diligent in cleaning lil Ken's mouth. So, today, I noticed spot of white dots on his tongue. I tried cleaning it, but could not get rid of it. Moreover, dared not rub too hard against it, in case it's really thrush, I did not want to hurt lil Ken.

Was prepared to take him to the doc tomorrow, and then I tried to clean his mouth again today.... not all the white dots came out....but at least some did. So, will give it another day of cleaning, before running to the pediatrician!!!!!

Updates....

Lots to write, lots to tell...

Rachel has stopped school as of last week, as we will be transferring out of town soon. Hubby has already left for this new place, and the 3 of us are back with my parents in my hometown. Don't think I will be able to manage the two kids on my own without my parents!!!! Hubby will only come back to fetch us to Kuwait in a month's time...
We have been talking about this transfer for awhile. Have not directly talked to Rachel about it, but we think she caught bits and pieces from our conversation. So, during her last week at school, she would relate our plans to her teachers and friends... about when's daddy transferring, and us waiting here for daddy, before daddy comes home to fetch us to Kuwait.... Have really got to mind our language and what we say in front of her... she's picking up pretty fast.

Meanwhile... Rachel is slowly adapting to the fact that daddy is not around. She cried big time the first night without daddy. She has become really attached to daddy since my confinement time. Also, she has grown quite attached to her little brother. Very considerate and loving.

As for Kenneth, he is growing ok. A blocked nose since last week, so we went to the doctor this morning. Rachel vomited 2x this morning as well, and it seems there's this gastro..blah..blah.... virus going on around in town for the kids. So, 2 kids were checked by the doc this morning.

Kenneth: Lungs are clear, with just a blocked nose. He is 6.1kg as of today (6 weeks and 3 days).

Rachel : Given "friendly bacteria" medicine, and some other syrup to prevent vomiting. Also, she will have to abstain from formula for a day. Doc said it's good to be able to give her my breastmilk though. So, will attempt to give her my breastmilk!

On a different note, I have transitioned Kenneth from the newborn and 0-3 months clothes to 3-6 months clothes now. It seems to fit him better, with more space for his stretching habit. He loves to stretch and grunt all the time! Maybe it's a boy thing. Don't remember Rachel doing this last time!

Back to our transfer to Kuwait. Since daddy's there now, he has started looking for schools for Rachel. One of the international schools he enquired told him that Rachel would have to take an entrance test before they would accept her! I was shocked! My girl is barely 4 years old. Am I supposed to prepare her for anything? She does not know all her ABCs yet. Or writing.... oh no.... another headache for me? Gotta research more about this.
