for a very long time, hubby and I have been worried about Rachel's incomprehensible chatter..... and at one time, I was really worried that Rachel's speech development is much slower than what I expected.....

the worries I had seems silly now.....with her constant chatter and loud demands and questions....oh the questions.........

Daddy! where?
Daddy's going upstairs
Daddy, upstairs what?
Daddy's going upstairs to switch on the computer.
Computer, what?
Daddy wants to switch on the computer to check email
Mummy, daddy email what? where?
.......

.

Mummy, go where?
Mummy, do what?
Mummy, cake buy where?
Mummy, the cake good!
Mummy, mummy and rachel pretty!!!!
Mummy, sit!

Mummy, Mummy, Mummy, Mummy.....
......
....
..
.

oh....and her manglish.......

My Nat's turning 18 mths tomorrow and I am a tad worried about her speech development. Sure, she can say a few words but I've realised that after a while, she stops saying those words. Maybe coz we keep asking her to say them and she gets annoyed at being asked the same thing over and over again. Yes, there is a rebellious streak in her after all, and not to mention laziness.

When did Rach start talking?

Hi Mel,

Dun worry too much about the speech development part yet (hahaha, look who's talking)....but it's just me saying that, I myself can't stop worrying. Have even considered a speech therapist!!!!

Rachel only started really talking after 2 years old. Till now, she's still talking in Manglish, and she has a lot of "ummm, ahhhh, errrr errrrr..." pauses in between her sentences. But at the moment, I just concentrate on understanding her:)

And also, I noticed vast improvement after Rachel started school.

Good luck..... Am sure Nat will pick up fast. By the way, I thought Barney shows helped a bit....but then again, watching too much TV shows does not help?!

Thanks for your comforting words. Made me feel much better.

And yes, you're right, we should concentrate more on trying to understand our children.

Have not bought her Barney videos (I seem to have an aversion to that purple dinosaur but please feel free to lessen that apprehension) but she does have some Sesame Street and Veggie Tales. I must admit, she's quite a telly addict and I'm not doing much to curb that habit.

Maybe it's time I asked you once again about your choice of school. But not so convenient to discuss on a public blog. Will email you later.
